Preparing a Speedtouch 716 for your SBS network
The Speedtouch 716 and 546 are routers with a build in ADSL modem and in our setup this is the Connection device. Because the Speedtouch has a build in router we don't need an extra router. The router makes the connection to the Internet and this makes it very easy for us to incorporate this device in our setup but we must disable DHCP and UPnP first. Connect a laptop to the Speedtouch and browse to the default IP address of the router. In most cases, this is 192.168.1.254 or 10.0.0.138.

Choose 'Home Network'...

Choose "Interfaces"...

Choose "Local Network"...

Choose "Configure"...

Uncheck 'Use DHCP Server' and click 'Apply'...

If you have done the above the DHCP server will be shut down. If your laptop looses the connection, you will need to set the IP address on your laptop to a static IP address in the range of the router like 192.168.1.100 with subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and gateway 192.168.1.254. If your laptop does not loose the connection, you do not have to do this.

Disable UPnP on the Speedtouch Connection device
One thing we never want is UPnP on a router. We want to control what ports are opened or not. I consider UPnP as a security risk on any server product and therefore we will turn it off on the Speedtouch. Choose Toolbox -> Game & Application Sharing -> Configure and uncheck 'Use UPnP' and click 'Apply'.
