For SBS 4.5, follow the Windows 2000 deployment guide on Windows 2000 Professional Client Quick-Install Guide. There's also a full white paper. For SBS 2000, install it as a Windows 2000 client. Note that in both cases, DO NOT USE THE CLIENT FLOPPY DISK. You must configure the networking on the workstation by hand (as per the deployment guide). Passwords, to many passwords and then the server starts to complain that you must change your password. I understand that to keep track of all changing passwords and login credentials is a burden for many people. You can change the default behavior on your server by changing a policy. Though we explain in this article how you do this we feel that it is not a good idea to disable this part of the password policy. If your server gets hacked because of this we have warned you!

This is probably one of the most asked questions in our forum and public newsgroups. The reason for this is very simple. You made a mistake when you installed the server initially because you used the FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name) as the domain name for your server. You should have used the default naming for a SBS server and that is domain.local and nothing else. But there is a fix.
