We currently have SBS 2003 with a mix of Mac and PC clients.  We use Exchange server for in house email and our Internet mail is a pop account through a separate ISP.  I would like to bring our email in house and run it through the Exchange server but before I can do that I need to make sure Entourage is working properly with Exchange.  I recently upgrade to Exchange SP2 and that solved many of my Entourage problems.  I can now send and receive and view the company directory including groups, however I still get the "root certificate" error no matter what I do.  I have tried every solution I have found on the Internet and none seem to work.  Most of my users will not accept having to click OK on the certificate message each time they open Entourage.  So I have two questions.

The first is which is the preferred method of solving the error message about root certificates.  Most recently I have copied the certificate from the default web site and imported it into the X509 portion of the keychain where it shows as a trusted certificate.

My second question is, does the fact that I essentially use two different certificates prevent me from solving this problem until I bring our email in house.  I use one certificate with our static IP address in the internet connection wizard and the other using our internal domain name for accessing OWA or exchange from Entourage while in house.

Any help with this is much appreciated.

Hi, did you manage to solve this yet?

I have this problem with the root certificate, I ahve to click it 3 times before Entourage is fully connected and working.

Hope someone may know what I have done wrong...

Thanks
Jack

Lianne -

The certificate warning is likely coming from the way you have Entourge/Exchagne configured. If the URL for Exchange that you have entered into the Entourage configuration does not EXACTLY match what is on the SSL certificate for the server, you will get errors. There is a great deal of information about Entourage configuration and the SSL cert issue in the SBS 2003 Unleashed book, and you can also get detailed information about Entourage configuration from http://simultaneouspancakes.com/Lessons/2005/01/02/how-to-configure-entourage-2004-for-sbs-2003/.

Let us know if either of those resources help resolve your issue. If not, we'll need to examine your SBS and Entourage config in more detail.
