I need to connect a SBS2003 and a Windows Server 2003. They have different domains, and fixed ip-addresses. The need is for mapping drives.

I believe a VPN with l2tp is the solution, but I will be gratefull for some advice and a path to documentation.

Regards,
Niels P.

What version of SBS 2003 are you using? Are you using RRAS on both sides? Are either servers running ISA?

SBS2003 is running ISA and SQL, so I guess it is Premium Ed. SP 2 is installed.
Server 2 is x64 Standard Ed.
RRAS is disabled on both servers.

Hi Niels,

You will have a hard time doing this, because SBS doesn't allow trusts, so you can't really get a solid connection between the different domains.

If the configuration was 2 times Windows Server 2003, trust would be allowed, and it would be possible to establish a VPN site-to-site connection?

Hi Niels,

Yes. Plain W2k3 server allows trusts.
