Hi there,

We replaced a faulty (HP) server at one of our clients and switched the tapedrive from the old server to the new one.
When running the default SBS backup it fails every time, when backupping to disk it runs fine.
With new tapes it does give the same error.

The error is: "Het aangevraagde medium kan niet worden gekoppeld. De bewerking is afgebroken." ( Dutch )

See attaced logfile.

Backup size is app: 31Gb's and tapes can store 40Gb.

I don't have much experience with tape backups, is there anything I should do ?

Regards,

Jelle Jan Dijkstra

Looks like DDS4 tape, native capacity 20GB, 40GB _only_ if you get 2:1 compression. You appear to be getting about 1.5:1 compression, this is quite a good compression ratio.

DO NOT believe manufacturer claims of 2:1 compression.
