Hi,
Just wanted to drop a quick line that Brooktrout/Cantata have announced that Microsoft has released a hotfix relating to a server hanging on occasions when a Brooktrout card receives a fax, requiring a server re-boot.
Below is an extract of the announcement from Brooktrout/Cantata:
Additionally, Cantata is working on our own hot-fix that will likely be released in the coming weeks. Our hot-fix is expected to affect only a very small percentage of Shared Fax/Cantata board users, mainly those using a higher than average number of fax ports in their Shared Fax solution. For the sake of consistency and ensuring everything is up-to-date, we ask that all Shared Fax users apply our hot-fix when it is available. We need to emphasize that the Microsoft hot-fix is the really vital one, and application of the Microsoft hot-fix alone should bring great relief from this problem.
To obtain this hot-fix from Microsoft, you will need to follow these steps:
Call Microsoft at (800) 936-5800. Please have pen and paper handy. A voice response system will answer. You’ll first need to select option three (3) for Developer Support, then option one (1) for Hot Fixes. Upon selecting option one (1) for Hot Fixes, a live person should answer. This representative should ask your name and email address. When you’re queried what system the hot-fix is for, answer “Windows Server 2003”. When queried for an article, state you want 919009. Even if you’re told they can’t locate it, assure them that’s the number of the hot-fix you want. You should be asked for additional contact information, then, you should be given a Microsoft case number. Upon being given your case number, the representative should send you an email with a link to the hot-fix. When you receive the email, download the hot-fix from the link and save to the fax server, then run to apply.
Cheers,
Suresh
P.S. I've applied the hotfix and so far so good...
