Has anyone tested out the faxing in Longhorn?

I'd like to know if fax modem compatibility has been improved over 2003. It wasn't the best in 2003. 2003 loves the Brooktrout fax boards but not much else.

Thanks,

Rich

Interesting.  i've used conexant and usr modems several times w/o issues.  Also external serial based modems always worked w/o fuss.

Does anyone know if any ISDN CAPI boards are compatible. I've got a Fritz card - never got around to setting up fax on SBS2003 but would like to with 2008. Generally with 2003 for most devices (excluding storage) an XP driver would be a suitable substitute if a Windows server 2003 wasn't offered. Is the same true of 2008? Does it use the same drivers as 2003x64 or Vistax64?

My $800, 1.5 year old TrueFax 200 board from Brooktrout Cantana Dialogic does not support (and will not per support) 64-bit OS. Any tried those trusty External US Robtics modems?

It's a shame the Windows 2003 OS won't recognize the modems in the MFC systems installed on the network. I've just set up a whiz bang Brother laser MFC with excellent PC faxing capabilities.
The Windows 2003 Fax program won't detect it. Client computers detect it and can send faxes from their pc's but receiving faxes to the server and route to the companyweb is something I haven't been able to get it to do.

The US Robotic modems work pretty well. Sending works 100%. Receiving - 95% come through completely. Sometimes only part of a fax is received. I think this is due to a compatibility problem with the remote fax machine more than anything else.
Additionally, the serial modems only send and receive at 14.4kbps compared to 33.7kbps for the Brother MFC.

I'm hoping maybe they changed things in the Windows 2008 faxing but it looks suspiciously similar to 2003.
The Windows Server Catalog has also not been updated for SBS 2008
