Hi, I wonder....today SBS2003 versions have a 32-bit limitation which means memory greater than 4GB will not be recognized/supported.

Does anyone know if this limitation is over for SBS2008? With todays memory prices >4GB memory becomes more and more standard.

Regards,
+Ruud+

Ruud,

SBS 2008 will be based on Windows 2008. That will be 64 bit and all memory boundaries will disappear! Well, almost

You are correct: Windows 2003 SBS is 32-bit and therefore cannot utilize more than 4GB. In fact, it won't utilize more than about 3.6GB without some extra work.

The 2008 version of SBS will definitely be 64-bit and be able to utilze many times the RAM of its predecessor. How much will probably be limited by Microsoft. But exactly how much, I don't think anybody outside the shining walls at One Microsoft Way in Redmond have a clue.

BTW MS have now released the statement 'All processor and memory limits will now match Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition.' http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver/essential/sbs/editions.mspx
