Hi,

When I set up the server originally I added users in the "Server Management" page from the start menu.  Now I'd like to move users and pc's into active directory.  Will I need to un and re-install them?  Will I lose anything (info) if I un and re-install user or pc?

How do move a desktop from a local pc to a domain connection?

Thanks  brad

Hi,

When I open AD users and computers then expand computers, nothing appears.  In "Server Management" I can see all pc's and users.  Users and pc's won't appear on both pages?

Are you familiar with Error #1058 in event viewer, applications?  This error occurs every 5 minutes.  I have followed the links into the registry and believe that the file is in the correct location in the attribute editor.  GPO's seem to cause this error.  Is it likely that a an XP pc on the network without an SID (because of a name change) is the problem?  I haven't un/re installed the unit, because of trouble moving her desktop when joining the net.  How do I make sure her desktop joins the network with the pc?  Any help is appreciated.

Thanks brad

Hi Brad,

You are looking in the wrong OU in AD. The 1058 can have many causes.
Please, post an ipconfig /all from the server and a workstation. Open a command prompt by opening Start -> Run from the Start Menu and type cmd. From the command prompt type ipconfig /all >ip.txt. Attach this file to your answer.
