Hi all,

I do the day to day server maintenance for a local non-profit.  We use SBS2003 and I'm trying to manage the user accounts.  I am a Power User on the network, so I can do pretty much everything I need to do.  However, there are quite a few users that were 'mistakenly' created as Power Users that, as a Power User, I can't manage.  I've worked with the staff member who has Administrator access to the server to reset these people with regular User access.  Our full-fledged Administrator is an outside consultant, who we don't want to contact for small stuff like this.

We've tried removing these people from the Power User group, which didn't work.  We've also tried applying the User template to these accounts thinking it would remove all Power User restrictions, which it didn't.  I can now modify the user’s group memberships, but everything in the other tabs is still grayed out.

Is there a way we can alter these accounts so that they can be managed by a Power User without recreating their account?

I appreciate any help that can be provided.  Let me know if there is other information I should supply.

Thanks,

Brad

Hi Brad,

Did you figure this out yet?

Marina Roos Smallbizserver.Net AdministratorMission accomplished. We have joined the branch office to our SBS 2003 Headquarters and have the same user experience on the branch office as we have on our local  network at the Headquarters. Want to know how?
