Hi guys,

I have a dell poweredge server with 2GB RAM running server 2003 sbs, exchange the usual...

the fax services should have been set up long ago... I have a modem installed (usb) to the server and fax services is setup...

i can create a word doc,pdf etc ctrl-p select the "fax printer" and print...and when i look in fax jobs it goes to outbox... modem dials up and ...the fax is sent...

but i cannot for the life of me send a cover sheet. it just doesnt send the fax...nothing in the queue. into a void somewhere.

I then noticed that just before i send the fax there is an option to preview it...when i click on preview fax i get:

the fax sending wizard

the fax preview cannot be displayed.

i am pretty convinced this is related to the fax not been sent. would you agree?

i googled for answers and i came up with a few fixes

1) make sure your tiff/tif association is pointing to windows fax and picture viewer...(which it wasnt, i changed it and it still didnt help.)
2) reinstall fax services...i removed it and added it. nothing
3) make sure the file key is in c:\hkeylocalm\software\microsoft\currentv\ports.. it was there so that didnt help.
4) they also said a firewall could be blocking it or trojan scanning software. there is no anti-virus, (yes i know, this will change tomorrow) and no firewall (not even windows firewall) there is a firewall on the switch (netgear) could that be doing anything [though i dont think so]
5)it also said i should check my event viewer for any problems.I did and there are some DNS and WINS issues that keep coming up, could this be causing the problem?
i have deleted the extensions and recreated them repointed them...

i have even installed irfanview...tried it...changed it back to windows picture and fax viewer...

i am lost...i mean i dont even know if im on the right track anymore...

thank you very very much for reading all that...if you have anything that may help me! i would greatly appreciate it.
