Hi There,

I have a new SBS2K3 install for a small company (no more than 4 employees).  They have a site, and a domain.  I set the SBS to their full company name internally (xxx.local) and setup their exchange domain as their internet site domain for email.  

What I'm running into is I didn't right down the external FQDN and think I've screwed up the dns for the server in general.

I get email into the server, and OWA gives access to all of the accounts (email wise) fine, but I can't connect their outlooks via HTTP to the exchange server.  I get a HTTP 403.1 error about ACL access being wrong.  I have yet to figure out how to change that...

I am also wondering if I've messed up the DNS settings in general, and wondering how I should set them on their godaddy domain manager to route things properly.  They have a static address from their ISP, and I have that setup properly, along with the ISP dns's.  Here's my ipconfig/all

I've noticed that my internal network isn't as fast as it was without the server in the network (as it's serving DHCP to all of the clients locally) 

So my goals are to:

Setup phones activesync to get pushed email, access the exchange server via HTTP from outlook clients, and make sure my DNS settings are all correct.

Hi Marina,

I've downloaded, updated and ran the SBS BPA and I have a couple of questions:

One, it tells me my EDNS is enabled, but the command it gives to run does not work in commandline: EDNS is enabled on this server. Some of the routers or firewalls may not support EDNS. You should disable EDNS on this server. To do so, click Start, and then click Command Prompt. In the Command Prompt window, type dnscmd /Config /EnableEdnsProbes 0 and then restart the DNS Server service.

Also, it tells me my OWA, Companyweb, and basically all sites, should be set to use ASP.NET 1.1.4322. All of those sites currently are on ASP.NET 2.0.50727 Should I downgrade them?

Other than those 2 things, and the backup not being ran, those are the issuse it found.

THe client's ipconfig is basically good, but it is missing the DNS suffix. Can you double check you have option 015 in the DHCP server, scope options and that it is pointing to your local AD domain name?
You should follow all the suggestions from the BPA. That dnscmd should work. Double check your typing. And yes, all the SBS websites need to be on Asp .net 1. That will certainly prevent RPC over HTTP running properly. Which is automagically set up by running the CEICW.

Hi Marina,

I have option 015 in my DHCP Scope options, which is:

015 DNS Domain Name Standard IntegrityAudioVideoSolutionsLLC.local none (for class)

I also downgraded all of my sites to ASP.Net 1

The dnscmd I cut/pasted it in, and it still gives me a command not found...?

On the machine that is missing the primary dns, please go the the my computer properties, tab Computer Name, Change, More, add the local domain name in the field and make sure the 'change primary dns...' box is checked.
If you run dnscmd from the command line, do you still get an error?

I re-tried the dnscmd on the sbs server and got it to take.

Now, my macbook pro running entourage 2008 can rpc-http to my exchange server, but I still can't get outlook 2007 on a windows machine to... Going to play with it some more, though not sure what is the deal?
