Hello all,

Go figure - just when we're ready to review our security on our network and make changes we find out yesterday after that our email server has been blacklisted!

We are running SBS2003 SP1 Premium in 3 offices and this is happening in one of our offices.  Nothing has changed on the server/workstations and suddenly the users started to receive emails bouncing back as deliverable because our email server is on a blacklist.

I am running scans on all workstations right now...and our servers....and our Exchange server is not set up for Open Relay so I wanted to check to see if there might be something else or other tools I can use to fix this problem.

Last night I installed Trend Micro Worry Free Security Business Advanced as we actually just purchased it - rolled out at all 3 sites without problems and again am now running manual scans at the site in question - so far no problems.

I've did some research and I've found that the Default SMTP Virtual Server settings are all over the place - recommendations to prevent relaying - any advice for these settings?

Basically just reaching out to see if others have had this issue and the steps taken to fix as in the 10 years I've been with these guys this is the first time this has happened!

Thanks so much,
Tammy

If you have been blacklisted I would run the scans and then change your IP address as most go by IP rather than domain name.

As for recommendations for open relay:

Thanks Kevin!  We confirmed that we weren't an open relay and actually found a workstation infected with a trojan.  We removed that workstation from the LAN and requested our IP be delisted and a few days later all is good - we're no longer on any blacklists!
