Hi Guys,

Need some help with a problem i'm having with delivery of emails from a pop3 server.

Basically, exchange is downloading the emails from the pop3 server perfectly fine, into the "incoming mail" folder. However, the CDO is not routing these emails to the "pick-up" folder, and instead, after the next retrieval request, the emails are being routed to the "failed mail" folder.

The strange thing is, when I move the emails manually from the incoming mail folder, into the pick-up folder, they will reach the users' exchange inboxes perfectly fine!

The problem seems to be that the emails are not being redirected from the incoming mail folder into the pick up folder.

Can anyone offer a reason why? or a resolution?

Thank You in Advance.

Rab.

Hi Rab,

Have you run the CEICW? Have you turned up the pop3 connector logging and checked the event logs?

Hi Marina,

I ran CEIWC when I first set up the server, however, now when I try to run it I get the message: "the wizard cannot set the DHCP Scope Options".

In the event log, I get the following error:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: POP3 Connector
Event Category: Delivery
Event ID: 1062
Date:  18/07/2008
Time:  14:00:39
User:  N/A
Computer: VQ-SERVER
Description: The message cannot be delivered due to a problem in the initialization of its deliverer.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

Any ideas?

Hi Rab,

Then you are using the DHCP on the router and haven't disabled the DHCP server service on the SBS. I would recommend using the SBS DHCP server.

Hi Marina,

I've disabled the DHCP Server service on SBS, however, exchange still isn't routing emails to client inboxes.

I've also tried trinstalling exchange server, and it's still not working properly.

Any other ideas?

Hi Rab,

Can you now successfully finish CEICW? Are you using a global POP3 mailbox? Can you switch to SMTP?

Hi Marina,

Even with the service disabled, I cant successfully finish CEICW, I get the same error message:
"an error occurred while configuring a component, to continue with the wizard and configure remaining components, click OK...."

In POP3 Connector Manager, i've set it to route email from a pop3 mailbox on a third party server to an exchange mailbox. The mail is downloaded perfectly fine into the "incoming mail" folder, and then after the next mail sync, it moves that mail into the "failed mail" folder.

I can send mails internally perfectly fine... i.e. someone@X.local.

I can also send emails over the internet fine, whether that be from the Internal SMTP address, or the company's SMTP address.

The only problem is getting the email to move from the "incoming mail" folder, into the "pick-up" folder on exchsvr - which the CDO process should be doing.

Hi Rab,

If the CEICW still isn't finishing successfully, you still have a problem. You might consider our remote support services.
