In SBS2000 had this turned off, and then had Username folders in Company Shared.. Redirected My Documents to Company Shared\Username.
This meant everybody could 'see' the folders and contents. Then for the managers, a folder called Private which only admins and the manager had access too was created.

Would like to replicate this under SBS 2003..

1. Need to stop SBS setting My Documents to Users Shared\Username.
2. Can't change target for My Documents once SBS has created user account etc.

Can you point me in the right direction please?

Regards,
Phil Partridge.

Hi Philip,

From what I gather you don't want to use the SBS default My Documents redirection folder. To change this, open up Server Management > then Shares (Local) > Configure My Documents Redirection. In the ensuing dialog box choose the the second radio option which means you can redirect to a network folder that you specify. I think that should cover your 1st point, but I'm no expert.

I'm not quite sure about your second point though, I believe that SBS allows you to change the target folder of the My Documents redirection even after user accounts have been created, however only the Built-in Administrator account or an account with Full Administrator priviledges can do that. So that stops other users from tampering with the redirection. Has this helped?
