Just configured a new Dell Server with sbs standard.

In the initial setup The Fqdn I put in was 17 Characters (there domain name is very long) so by default the netbios name stopped at 15 so they are now different.  I did not realize this at the time.

After reboot I noticed the domain listed was the net bios name, but the domain listed when you right click on my Computer and go to properties is the full 17.local fqdn.

So bottom line is I cannot connect clients to the server.  Says domain cannot be reached.  I tired both the fqdn and the netbios name.  I am assuming its because the 2 names are different.  Is My assumption correct?

Did I totally screw tis up and have to do the install all over again or is there an easy way to fix this?

Thank you in advance

I figured it out. Have to put the domainname.local if its different from the netbios name. Never had to add the .local before when attaching a client to a sbs.
