Hello, everyone

The SBS2003 I'm using, had started "reset-like" rebooting every exact hour.
It looks like known problems with SBS not configured as DC or conflicting SBSs, that were described many times.
But there are few differences, that make standard solutions unusable:

1. There is definitely only one SBS on the local network (all other computers equipped with XPPro).
2. The server IS a domain controller.
3. The server's install program had been completed.
4. There are no any appropriate warnings (as described at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555087) in the event log. The only error is message from eventlog "the server was restarted unexpectedly", that appears on nearest booting.
5. The server had been installed a couple of months ago and worked correctly all the time. Network configuration hadn't changed since installation too. During that time a few users were added and 5-clients license were installed, that's all.

I ever tried to disable SBCore service, but with no success, so SBCore has been re-enabled.

All latest updates are installed.

Any suggestions anyone?

Hi Maxim,

Do you have any errors or warnings in the event logs?

Hello, Marina.

>> Do you have any errors or warnings in the event logs?

No. The only message in log is eventlog::"the server was restarted unexpectedly"

Actually, I've found solution, but not explanation of the problem.
I have SBS2003 installed onto motherboard Intel DG33TL.
If system shuts down unexpectedly due to power failure a few times during a short period, then it starts rebooting every exact hour.
Solution is simple - shut system down, unplug power cord and wait a minute.
Look like a "gift" from Intel. I had a higher opinion of their products.

Hi Maxim,

That mobo is not server quality. From the Intel site: Desktop Boards - Troubleshooting operating system issues:
http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/CS-028426.htm
  • Windows Server* 2003: Intel® Desktop Boards do not support Windows Server 2003. There are no drivers available for this operating system.
