I have a SBS 2003 DC to which I joined 2 Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition servers to.  I simply followed Microsofts suggestion of going into System -> Computer Name and join it to my domain.  The join itself seems to have worked just fine.  Since then I have moved the new servers into the SBSServers OU.

For some reason, I cannot access any of the shares on the DC, or the other server.  From either of the 2 new servers, if I were say to use Windows Explorer to view my domain controller with \\DOMAINCONTROLLER, I can see the shares, but I do not seem to have any kind of write access or anything.  I have tried this by loggin into the DC's Administrator Account.  I happened to have made both the new servers Administrator account the same password as the DC's.  I made sure when I tested with this method to login with the Administrator account and password, and logged onto the Domain, not the local machine.

Also, when I try to navigate to http://companyweb, I am prompted for authentification.  Not sure if this will help diagnose the problem or not.

Is there anything anyone can think of to get the write, execute type access I am looking for?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi Mike,

Please, post an ipconfig /all from the three servers and a workstation. Open a command prompt by opening Start -> Run from the Start Menu and type cmd. From the command prompt type ipconfig /all >ip.txt. Attach this file to your answer.

I resolved my problem with some help from a microsoft usenet group.  Here is what the Microsoft support person said.
Hello,

Thank you for posting here.

According to your description, I understand that:

You have 2 Windows Sever 2003 server on the VMWare ESX server and joined to the domain manually. However, you find that you have not sufficient permission on the domain resources.
If I have misunderstood the problem, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Suggestions:
=====================
From the description, it seems to be a frequently encountered issue with Internet Explorer 7 with Enhanced Security due to its stronger security
protection. To resolve this issue, add the UNC path of the network location and the companyweb to the Trusted sites zone of Windows Internet Explorer 7 with the following steps:
To add the UNC path and companyweb of a network location to the Trusted sites zone, follow these steps:
1. Close all active Windows Internet Explorer 7 windows.
2. Start Windows Internet Explorer 7.
3. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
4. In the Internet Options dialog box, click the Security tab.
5. On the Security tab, under Select a zone to view or change security settings, click Trusted sites, and then click Sites.
6. In the Add this website to the zone box, type the UNC path and companyweb of the network location, and then click Add.
For example, type \\Server\Share and http://companyweb.
Note In this example, Server represents the NetBIOS name of the server. Share represents the shared folder where the file is located.
7. Click Close, and then click OK to close the Internet Options dialog box then check how it works.

942091 You may be unable to run an executable file or a script file from a UNC path when you have Windows Internet Explorer 7 installed on a Windows Server 2003-based computer

If the issue persists, please help to collect the following information for further investigation.
Hope this can help someone else.
