Hello, after being away for a year because I followed all the setup guides from here and had no trouble with the 3 SBS servers I have but now I'm back!
Cause I'm stumped on this one!

The server was running fine no problamo for 2 years, so in my infinite wisdom I got a better deal with a more reliable ISP. What a knuckle head I am been working on this for a day and got no where!
I have a fixed IP etc etc, I changed my IP address at DYNDNS (have a custom DNS and domain there)and changed my Netgear router username password and dns settings.
I thought that would be it?
Well partly...I have internet access, the server is receiving email but I can't SEND any mail and I'm freaking out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have checked all I know but I have come up with nothing.
Ok what have I got.
SBS 2003 (not R2) Dlink ADSL modem in bridge mode to a netgear router that has the user name and password in it then the SBS server.

Regards Paul

Paul,

Good to hear from you again! It may well be that the new ISP blocks outgoing connections at port 25. You can try to telnet to any smtp server at port 25 from your server and see what happens. If you do not get an EHLO from for example smallbizserver.net then port 25 is blocked and you will have to use the SMTP server of that new ISP as a smarthost:

We have joined the branch office to our SBS 2003 Headquarters and have the same user experience on the branch office as we have on our local  network at the Headquarters. Want to know how? Thanks for the reply, someone else tipped me off confiming your suggestion.

Well I'm fuming? WHY?
Well about the 5th thing I did on Friday morning while I was home was call my ISP but I couldn’t get through and they called me back 20mins latter.
I told the TECH GUY we are running a mail server and we can’t send email, is there anything YOUR end that could be preventing this?

He said “no”

After my tip off I googled "WESTNET blocks ports" and guess what, they $%$&%*# do!

I logged into my account and buried deep in the control features was port blocking.
Turned it off and 5 mins latter its working.

Thanks for the help, I'm looking forward to the release of SBS 2008.
I have my new server here ready to go already.

So i'm looking forward to the fun and games with that!

The lesson here is when in doubt call you ISP twice you might get someone who knows what they are doing.

Thanks a heap Paul
