I have being using a discussion board on Sharepoint in SBS2003 as a kind of daily diary.  Is there a way to move that to a discussion board on Sharepoint in SBS2008?
Is it possible to backup and restore or to export and import?

Hi Chip,

As SBS 2008 has just RTM-ed, it will be a while before you can get your hands on it. SBS 2008 will come with a migration document, but I haven't looked at that yet. The Official SBS Blog : SBS 2008: Released to Manufacturing!: http://blogs.technet.com/sbs/archive/2008/08/21/sbs-2008-released-to-manufacturing.aspx

Sharepoint migration from SBS2003 to SBS2008 wasn't documented very well in the official MS migration document IMHO.  You are better off following the official migration docs for WSS2 to WSS3.  Or the large amount of net wisdom about this matter out there.

For your task, if I were you, I would do it like this.....

1)  Export your discussion board as a template plus data on your old sharepoint.
2)  copy the template to the wss3 on SBS2008.
3)  create a new discussion board on your WSS3 site using the template.
4)  Viola!  Your discussion board is back on with all existing data......

I did this for various lists when I did my migration from SBS2003 to SBS2008 last week.....

When you export the list item as a template, you can go to site settings and download the template as a file.  On the WSS3 site, import that template from site settings.  Then create a new discussion area based on the template....
