I'm testing security options for a client demo next week and would appreciate any comments on WSS3 security in this scenario:

home site is for company use
subsites client1 and client2 will be used to store documents, images etc for each client and using custom security that's  fine, however when client1 logs in the can't see the intranet home, which is correct, and get an error:access denied on login, if I change the URL to add the subsite it then works as expected with just that listed on the navigation.

So my question, is this the correct behaviour or should it dynamically build the vaslid site list and direct them to the correct subsite or is WSS doing this but asssuming that everyone has access to home?
If this is how things should work then I guess I'll get home to contain generic stuff and create another subsite for internal use

Thanks
Tony

Hi Marina,

Never found an answer as to whether this was right or wrong so have now configured Sharepoint  to have the base site with access to all users, sites for each external client docuement library and a private intranet which the client is happy with

Thanks
Tony
