Running SBS 2003 Standard SP2 and SharePoint 2.0 and IE 7.0.6001.18000. All patches except the September crop are installed. Intranet settings in IE, scripting is enabled in Security. Logged in as a user in the Administrator and Database Manager site groups.

At http://companyweb/default.aspx, if I click on "Modify Shared Page" "Add web parts" "Browse" I get a list of 10 of the 17 installed web parts. If I click "Next" a new IE window opens with 'javascript:__doPostBack('_ctl7$GalleryBrowse1$MSOGallery_next','')" in the adddress bar and "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". Of course I don't get the next page of Web parts. If I click on the "X" to close the web part browsing window I get the same result except the address bar is 'javascript:MSOTlPn_onToolPaneCloseClick()".

Huh??????????

Does this happen on the server?

Yes, and the behavior persists after several reboots.

Listed in the first message of the thread. It's in a new window.

I set up a new top-level site yesterday and clicked on the problem links just for grins ... they worked. I went back to the main companyweb page ... the problem persists there. It looks as if the main companyweb page is missing some Javascript or something.

I don't know if it's worth digging up a copy of FrontPage 2003 and trying to figure it out. I'm sort of planning to upgrade hardware and software to SBS 2008 late in the first quarter of 2009. As long as teh problem doesn't appear on new top-level sites I can probably put up with it until then.
