Hi Y'll,

I know a lott of you are stuggling withh this, or may be you have n't found out jet. But after the Small Business Server prem upgrade SQL is running wild with RAM. In my case I use a box's that have to Xeon processors and 3GB ram to nic's and Scsi kontrollers. I tweak start up for exchange and mem use as shown by Marina. I also tweak'd every SQL instance to use X amount memory, if your not doing this it runs just higher and higher untill it runs out.   OK this works but how do we find out what amount of memory each instance needs in a growing DB? Should we tweak and tune from day to day? Ore is MS comming with a patch to correct this feature?

Hi Rene,

'A lot of you'? I don't think so. I have never had to tweak anything on all servers I maintain. What 3rd party stuff is running on that server?

No spesial third party. Backup exec 10.0 uses SQL, windows firewall, sbsmonitor, antivirus (panda), It's spesialy the local instance that runs wild. The servers I maintain that are not upgradet yet behave normal without extreme memory use. As I told after the upgrade spesialy the local instance want's to use all availeble memory over some time, it stops at the limmit if I set one and works fine.

Hi Rene,

You can do without Backup Exec as the Small Business Server Backup wizard does a perfect job. About Panda, have you contacted them about this?

Backup exec followed with the package so old habbit i installed. Panda wasn't installed for after 10 day's (had to wait for some upgrade) thus I know for shure that the behavior was there before Panda.

Appreciat your input

I also am running into this problem. I have Small Business Server 2003 Premium with ISA 2004 and SQL Server, and SQL is eating up memory. Every morning I get a report that it is using a lot of memory. The only 3rd party software is Trend Micro officescan.
