I have a user running SBS2003 premium. I have already upgraded them to SBS2003 SP1 but did not run the SQL SP4 patch as they had several packages running on SQL & I did not get confirmation from all the suppliers that their software would still run. The end user now wants me to upgrade to SP4 & also install SQL 2000 Reporting services. Is this a separate product that has to be bought or is it hidden on the SBS2003 Premium disks? |

SQL Reporting Services is a separate product, as I recall. It is not included with the SBS media.

Thank you for your reply.
Am I correct in understanding that the user is licensed to use the product? |

That one I'm not 100% certain on. This link
(http://www.microsoft.com/sql/prodinfo/previousversions/rs/howtolicensers.mspx)
seems to indicate that a license for SQL Reporting Services is included
wihtthe SQL license on SBS, but I'm not 100% certain. Several Google
searches all seemed to imply the same thing, but I can't find anything
definitive on the MS site.

Thank you.
I also found from Google searches that SQL users appear to have a licence to use Reporting, but I could find nothing about this on the Microsoft site. |

Anyway, the Reporting Service installation doesn't require a key...
At some time in the installation, it will ask you if you use CAL's or CPU type of licensing.
With SBS2003R2 it is 'built in' even with the workgroup edition of SQL2005.

Didier

If you have SBS2003 Premium you are licensed for SQL Reporting Services on your SBS server. You need to get hold of the SQL 2000 Standard Reporting Services Installation CD - if you have MSDN you can download it from there but otherwise you would have to buy a SQL 2000 media kit (~£20). PS. You can find this SQL RS install on the CRM 3.0 Server CD
Be aware that SQL RS likes to install two virtual IIS directories in the default website which is normally OK unless you have messed around with the default website. I normally have to make sure the IP addresses are not restricted in the IIS virtual directories after the install.
Makre sure you download and install SP1 and SP2 for SQL Reporting Services - a lot of fixes and SP2 allows printing of reports.

Excellent info Julian, thank you.
IIS has not been played with too much, other than for WSUS.
