I am currently running SBS 2003 Stanard. I need to get my server ready for Microsoft CRM 3.0. However, this requires a default instance of SQL server. I read in this forum and other that the only difference between sbs standard and premium is the premium disk. So i used this disk to install SQL.
This is where my problem starts... I have installed SQL 2000 Standard and also upgraded my sharepoint instance from MSDE to SQL Server. Somehow my default instance of SQL got screwed up or never installed correctly. I assume this because I do not see a service running for this default instance. I have tried unisntalling SQL and reinstalling it to no avail. Now, whenever I try to reinstall SQL, it will not even let me install a default instance. The checkbox for the default instance is greyed out in the setup.
To make matters worse, I can't upgrade the default instance (if it exists) or my sharepoint instance to SP4. When i try to upgrade the default instance to SP4 the setup gives me an error saying it can't find the service MSSQL. When i try to upgrade the sharepoint intance of sql to sp4, the setup just disappears and terminates without finishing.
This puts me in a pickle, because now I can't upgrade to Premium using the premium SBS discs that I have. I can't get my default instnace of SQL to work, thus I can't install the CRM.
Has anyone out there made the same mistakes I have?
Is there any way out of this? CAn anyone help me? Is there a way to migrate to SBS Premium?
Is there a way to get SQL working? Is it even possible to get a default instance of SQL working on sbs 2003 standard??? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!!! |
