Greetings all,

I run a SBS2003 Premium LAN.   I followed the procedure to upgrade my database so I could enjoy full text search a while ago (think I found the instructions on this site) using the sql2k SP4 CD-rom.    I have full text in sharepoint now - very nice, very convenient.

However, now, I expand Enterprise manager on the SBS box - I see the following databases:
  • northwind
  • msdb
  • model
  • pubs
  • tempdb
  • master
I don't see any sharepoint database!   I do have full text search in Sharepoint - am I still using the MSDE?   I thought what I ran earlier was actually moving my sharepoint data to full SQL - not leaving it in the MSDE - not true?

Can someone clarify?

David

Hi David,

SQL uses 'instances' and inside those instances you will see the databases. In the SQL manager you will need to add the instance called 'Sharepoint' if you want to look into the databases and stored procedures. If you have full text search in Sharepoint you have successfully upgrade the instance to full blown SQL.

Hi David,

Have a look in Add/remove programs as that will definitely show if you have Sharepoint running as MSDE or SQL instance. If upgraded properly, you should see an entry with SQL server Sharepoint. You apparently didn't completely follow the premiuminstallsteps.htm, as that should show you how to add the Sharepoint instance to SQL Enterprise manager.
