I´m new to SQL and here goes. Should i install SQL 2000 on SBS 2003 prem. as an upgrade to MSDE or as a new installation, wich is better to do. Do i also need to install the SP3a if i have installed the SBS SP1.

Hi Heimir,

Follow the Premiuminstallsteps.htm on the Premium Technologies CD for installing SQL 2000. As SP4 for SQL is released, you can go straight ahead with installing that instead of the SP3a. You can find it on the Premium SP1 CD.

Good day Heimir,

You can check by seeing if SHAREPOINT appears in the SQL server groups and by trying to enable the search function for sharepoint services. If you see the search box on you site you  are good to go.

Add Share point to Enterprise Manager
1. start sql enterprise manager
right click on sql server group
    new sql server registration
add by typing    server_name\SHAREPOINT in the avaible server box and click add
    select your type of authentication
add to existing servers group default name
    click finish

you should now see the SHAREPOINT server listed in the Enterprise Manager

enable Search for Sharepoint Services
2.  Start
    Administrative Tools
    Sharepoint Central Administration
    Configure full-text search
put a check in the Enable full-text search and index component checkbox
    click OK

Now it should configure you site for full text search.
when you go back to http://companyweb/default.aspx   you should see a search box in the upper right corner of the page.

Hope this helps,
Don Anderson

Hi Heimir,

Did you really follow the premiuminstallsteps.htm and UPGRADE the Sharepoint MSDE to SQL?

Hi Heimir,

Open up SQL Enterprise Manager and expand. If you see the Sharepoint instance, right click on it and unregister it. Then try to reregister it again and make sure you use servername\sharepoint when you add it.
