Hi guys,

I have a sbs 2003r2 standard edition server. The customer has decided they need to buy some CRM software and the supplier says that sql2000 needs to be installed on the machine, their application is not supported on any later versions of sql.

ignoring the issues about whether or not we can get hold of a copy of 2000 (presumably its discontinued?) can anyone see any issues if i just install sql2000 on the box? also, whats the deal with licensing? do i need to buy sep cals because i dont have premium cd?

Thanks!

Purchase a Premium Edition to get the SQL Server 2005 Workgroup Edition which you can install on an SBS 2003 box. Since you need SQL Server 2000, you can request for the media kit from Microsoft. Check out this MS KB for more details http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935573/en-us. Licensing wise, your SBS CALs will cover access to SQL Server in this setup
