Has anyone had experience with this problem.  Our exchange server 2003 runs with SQL server 2005 on the same machine and we can't get Blackberry's and windows mobile phones to work.

The question is

- Is it alright to install SQL Server 2005 alongside Exchange 2003? Has he heard of possible OMA issues when they are in the same server?

- Is it possible to run OMA on a different server (possibly install Exchange on another box and just reference the mailbox it needs to access on the other Exchange server)?

Is this SBS?

Brian,

I am sorry but I cannot help as you are not using SBS 2003. SBS 2003 is a suite designed by Microsoft to have all those server components play nicely together. You cannot do that with vanilla Windows Server 2003.

How many users do you have? Maybe you choose the wrong software?

It works together just fine, i've set up configurations like that many times in the past. If you want good performance it gets tougher, and also i would never recommend putting such heavy applications on the same server. Unless there is only one server. Kind of funny that Enterprise is being used then.

If Enterprise was chosen for clustering, make sure that having an Exchange and SQL cluster node residing on the same physical server will not cause you problems. I actually think Microsoft doesn't even support that. Also it is a bad practice to do so.

Do note that a regular ISA 2004/2006 does not play well together with Exchange on the same server, this especially goes wrong when Forms based authentication is used. Then you will have weird activesync errors. Just post them here and we'll help you fix them
