I'd like to install an instance of MSDE SP4 on SBS 2003 Std.  I believe that the MSDE used for the various admin functions in SBS is SP3.  If I install a new instance of SP4, will it mess up the instances used by default by SBS?

If this instance is named (it has to be with MSDE anyway) it does not affect the other instances in any way.

Actually, MSDE will let you install a default instance - I do it all the time.  Will that make a difference?

Thanks,

Oh yes, I am mistaken. Sorry for that. That should work just fine.
