Hi Folks,
Just wondering if it is possible to install the standalone version of SQL 2000 on top of an installation of SBS 2003 Standard. I was thinking that it would be possible if you didn't install the monitoring function of SBS during the setup, that was the scaled down version wouldn't install for the full install of SQL to conflict with?
Help please!!!

Hi Barry,
If you simply buy the upgrade to SBS Premium, you will be fine. Premium is nothing more than ISA 2000 and SQL 2000 server and have to be installed manually always. Do install Sharepoint and Monitoring, as you will only benefit from it. Then follow the premiuminstallsteps.htm on the Premium CD to upgrade Sharepoint to the SQL instance. |

One of my customers has exactly the same question. He is aware of fact
that upgrading Standard to Premium is cheaper, but he has irrefutable
reasons to install SQL 2000 standard on SBS 2003 standard. So my
question is: what problems should we expect?
TIA
Jiri

Hi guys
I'm having problems installing SQL 2000 Enterprise edition on my SBS 2003 Standard edition server. Would you be able to help me here please? It is saying that this version is not supported.
Thanks,
Zlat |

By default, if you're installing SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 2 or earlier, you will be prompted with this dialog. You can safely ignore it, just install SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 4 when you've finished completing the installation of the server.

Hi,
I am trying to install SQL 2000 Developer Edition on to SBS 2003 std. The diolog box about versions supported appeares, and I click continue. Next I would expect wizards etcto open next but nothing happens, even after 30 minutes. The prosses has been started but just sits there, nothing visable on the screen to Indicate anything is happening. When I try to runInstall Database Serveragain (assumingthe first time it has failed to start) a dialog box appears saying "Another instance of setup is already running". Do you know what is coursing this and how to fix it. I assume there should not be any diffrance between the SQL Developer Edition and Enterprise Edition regarding the insterlation requirements. Are there any other problems I should be aware of with this instalation?
Thanks Trevor |
