I have 2 servers - SBS 2003 Premium SP1 and one running Windows Server 2003 R2 Std. SP2.  On the second server I have installed MOSS 2007, and have a 300GB partition on it for the datafiles, docs, etc.

I had hoped to leverage SQL 2000 on the SBS server to "run" the database I'll create for MOSS, with the database files located in that 300GB partition.  However, I had problems yesterday trying to install a named instance of SQL on the SBS server and mapping a path to the other server's partition.  SQL installation didn't like that.  Further reading told me that it needs to go into the default paths so it can share the tools resident in SQL.

My qustions are:
(1) Is a "named instance" considered a separate/new installation of SQL server?
(2) I thought of using KB 224071 to move the database files over, but I think this may be for attaching to a new SQL Server instead of what I'm thinking about.  Can someone explain what "moving the databases" means, with repect to SQL Server we install on SBS?
(3) What licensing problems are there if installed SQL Server from the SBS server, but chose the Remote Computer option?

Hi Mike,

Did you figure this out yet?

Yes, but it wasn't as I expected.  I got a reply on the MS SBS newsgroup to check the HP website for my model.  Turns out that it IS a single processor and the BIOS just "sees" it as two.  Problem solved.
