Hi All,
Im new to SQL so i have some basic questions.
We're running a SBS2003 Standard server. Fully patched except sp2 for Windows2003.
We're using a ERP system that uses SQL so the supplier gave us a cd with SQL server with SP4 to run the ERP system. We installed it on a different partition than the SBS2003 system.
That all works fine.
Now we want to try this Blackberry software. I read the procedure from Mariette.
My questions:
Do i have to run the SQL cd again to install an new SQL installation besides the one we are already running or do i have to just create a new database?
Probably we will not run more than 5 users with Blackberry so we could use MSDE but i think its saver to stick as close to the described procedure as possible.
How do i make sure the ERP database and the database for Blackberry dont get mixed up?
Can i easily undo the Blackberry installation and database if needed?
Is there anythin else to watch out for?

Thanx in advance, Sal

You can either just create a new database on your existing SQL Server instance for ease of management. But better check with your ERP vendor for their recommendation. Installing a separate instance has a lot of benefits, including allocating dedicated CPU and memory resources although management cost would increase as you now have to manage two instances - meaning, two separate backups and database maintenance plans
