   Hi

I am about to add a TS server to an SBS2003 standard network that has 2 NIC's

My question today relates to the possitioning of the TS on the network and how it is accessed from outside.

The artical contained in the site explains how the TS is joined and it places the TS server on the inside NIC obtaining an IP address from the SBS server.

How do I connect to the TS server from outside?
At present I have RDP forwarded from the Firewall/Router to the SBS servers external IP number for Admin
Forwarding the port accross the SBS server looks cumbersome

Can I not have the TS Server on the External NIC/Subnet?

Any clues would be appreciated

what i did is forward the RDP to the Terminal server as i dont want anyone to be able to RDP to the SBS box as only administrator need to... and you can still do this by using VPN or log into the Terminal server and Remote Desktop from there....

Steven

Did you port forward from the SBS to the internal TS server or do you have 2 NICs in the TS server also.

My SBS installation does not have ISA so the forwarding abilities are basic

Hi Martin,

If you have joined the TS server with connectcomputer, it should show automagically in the /remote page as Connect to my Application server. So you can reach that TS with RWW just like you can reach desktops.

Marina

If the user is a member of either the user or mobile user group they don't get to see the Connect to Servers Option on RWW. I would have to make them admin?

Am I wrong in this?

I am happy to forward all RDP to the Internal TS server if required as I can then RDP back to the SBS server from there for admin.

Any other way of achieving this with SBS2003 standard?

Regards

Martin

Hi Martin,

No, you should never make a user admin. Again, normal users should see the Connect to my Application Server, they never should see the Connect to Servers option at all.
