I need some advice on what would be the best config for my evolving sbs network. Here is the current set up:

+-20 users, sbs 2003 r2, 1 nic, web filter(proxy), Cisco 1601 router --> frame relay(256k) to data processor who also acts as ISP. All data processing, internet, and email traffic is on the frame relay circuit. Because of this we have an extremely slow connection. Ugh!

We recently installed a T1 along with a Cisco 1841 router and a Fortigate 60b Firewall. We will eventually use this along with an encrypted VPN to connect to another data processor. (We are a small financial institution.) Until that occurs, 4 to 6 months from now, I need to route our internet/email traffic over the T1 and leave the data processing over the Frame Relay. Currently sbs is pointed to the 1601 as the default gateway.

My initial thoughts were to point sbs to the Firewall and then from there connect each router to a separate WAN port, and have my MSSP configure the firewall to route appropriately. Not sure if that is the best solution.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

So, anyone have any ideas. After 53 views I would have thought someone could lend a hand.

Hi Josh,

Apparently the situation isn't clear to people and I for one don't know what MSSP is and am wondering about the 'connect to another data processor'.
If you are having two WAN lines, you will need to purchase a dual WAN router that will handle those WAN connections.

MSSP = Managed Security Services Provider
Because we are a financial institution our "regulators" prefer a third party security provider.

"connect to another data processor"
We are eventually changing data processing providers...I probably should have left that out. It is a irrevelant to my main question.

Thanks for the reply, Marina.

Hi Josh,

Sorry, I still don't understand what you are asking.
