I am looking for a piece of software that I can run from a laptop that will scan a new customer's network. I would like to find out things like:
  • Types of devices (printers, routers, firewalls, etc.)
  • What OS they are running
  • How much disk space is on machine (and how much is left)
  • Which patches are missing
  • Which software is installed
  • Hardware specs (CPU, RAM, Make and Model, Etc.)
My goal is to be able to quickly provide a report that I can possibly edit and append that I can present to a prospect and be reasonably confident that the information is accurate. This would not replace due diligence, but just make the discovery process much faster. I like LANguard Network Security Scanner from GFI, but the latest versions are really bloated and require you to run MSDE or SQL Express. I'm looking for something a bit 'thinner'. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions. Your input is appreciated.
