Hello, We've just purchased a Mac Mini (OSX - 10.4.1) for the office and yours truly has been given the responsibility to get it fully working with our SBS domain etc. Given it a fixed IP address, same subnet, router and DNS are SBS server address. Internet access no problem. In Finder, my domain (BEDAZZLED) is found and I can connect to shares on windows XP workstations but to no avail with the server. (Keeps saying Alias could not be opened because it could not be found.) Similalry, can't connect Entourage to Exchange server. Alos problem when Use:-> Go: Connect to Server. When I enter /SERVER_IP> it asks for SMB/CIFS File System Authentication. When I enter all the correct details it tells me I couldn't connect to server because name or password is not correct. Anyone have any thoughts? (It's a shame I'm having these problems really because I rather like what I see from Tiger ) Thanks all for listening, Kevin

Hi Kevin,
I am sure that our Mac Guru Eriq will check in eventually, but in the mean time, did you check out his website Lessons Learned yet?: http://simultaneouspancakes.com/Lessons/

Hey Kevin. Marina has already posted the link to my Mac/SBS how-to site. From what you describe in your post, you need to disable SMB signing on the SBS server so the Mac can connect. You can get the specific instructions on how to do that at http://simultaneouspancakes.com/Lessons/archives/2004/12/how_to_disable.shtml Hope that helps. -Eriq

Thanks guys, will try that when I'm back in the office later. Are there any big problems associated with disabling SMB signing? Cheers, Kevin

Hi Kevin,

There shouldn't be any problem,  but make sure you triple check the setting you are changing.

Hi all,

Disabled SMB signing and I can now connect to the server. However, I still can't get any Mail app to connect to the Exchange server.

I'm in a foriegn country at the moment so can't recall the error message but will post it on my return. Thanks for all your help so far but any more ideas would be gratefully received.

Regards,

Kevin
