Subject: Reconnect to Workstations to Re-formatted Server

If I re-install the OS on my current server how do I re-connect the workstations.  None of the workstations have much on them and I really don't care if the user profiles make it through since the workstations are locked down pretty good with GPO.  Can I just disconnect them from the domain, create new computer accounts on the re-installed server, and then just join them using connectcomputer?

Because the workstations are already part of a domain, you would have to disconnect them first (add them to a workgroup) in order to use connectcomputer again. You could re-install with the same information, same logins and such, just give everyone new passwords.

How about if I wanted to preserve the user desktops and settings?  If I unjoin the workstations and bring back to WORKGROUP, will i be able to recover the original desktops and settings once i do the connectcomputer again? Will the wizard see the Unknown Profile as one of the profiles to 'migrate'?
