Hello,

This isn't exactly related to networking workstations but I think it's a reasonable question. The boss has asked whether he can delete the temporary folders that in the route of his c: drive on his XP Pro machine. The folders are named in a 'windows system' style and contain log files. He has several in his root. I've checked my XP Pro and another machine and we both have one folder with a log file in it. The bosses machine is running fine - is it ok to delete these log file folders? And does anybody know why they've appeared here and not in \windows\ somewhere?

Best regards,

Paul Collen.

Paul,

I have no idea if deleting those file cause problems but how much data is there? Is there a need to delete those files?

Hello Marriette,

Nice to talk to you again :)

I've looked on my machine and I have one folder called: b1fbcc1f0d28d5816fdb that has this file in it:

msxml4-KB927978-enu.log

I assume they are just MS update logs but I don't know why they're not in \windows\

The boss just wanted to tidy up his C: you know what they're like ;)

Best regards,

Paul.

Hi Paul,

Ah, I know those folders. They are from Windows Update and I always delete them. No problem.
