Hello,

On a new SBS 2003 Domain the connect computer fails on one client. All other machines join the domain fine. The machine that fails gets to the end of the wizard then IE refreshes and the generic error screen shows. When I look at the SBSNetSetup log i notice this error:

FinishNetworkingSetup() -- NetJoinDomain() failed 󞝿], returning
FinishNetworkingSetup() failed -- hr == [-2147467259]

When I look at the NetSeetup log I can see this error:

02/05 07:59:23 NetUseAdd to \\server.SERVER.local\IPC$ returned 1231
02/05 07:59:23 NetpJoinDomain: status of connecting to dc '\\server.SERVER.local': 0x4cf

Note: I changed the name of the domain for public posting, in the actual log file the correct domain is displayed.

On the client machine I can ping the server by name an IP, I have the worskstation set to use the SBS for DHCP, and I can access workstation level shares and printers. I just can't figure out why this machine won't join the domain. I have also attempted reinstalling the network card as well as upgrading the drivers, no luck. Is this a binding issue? When I lookup error 1231 it seems to be an access issue. I am the local administrator on the machine.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Try joining the machine to the domain the manual way and see what happens, does it join?
