Hi,

I am managing a small network using Windows 2003 Server and Vista clients.  My server has 2 NICs installed, one internal and the other external.  My external is connected to the internet via a router.  I have configured my NICs so that my server can surf the internet and download necessary AV updates etc.  I also wish to share this internet connection to my clients.  How do I configure RRAS to do this?  I have tried already but have failed miserably so far.

Hi Justin,

Is this SBS 2003?
Please, post an ipconfig /all from the server and a workstation. Open a command prompt by opening Start -> Run from the Start Menu and type cmd. From the command prompt type ipconfig /all >ip.txt. Attach this file to your answer.

Marina,

Thanks for your reply.  I'm using Windows 2003 Server (not SBS 2003 but I do use that for my civilian job).  I have attached my IP Config file for your perusal.

Justin

Hi Justin,

That doesn't look good at all. What is the PSELAN adapter used for? Why is the external adapter on DHCP? The internal nic should point to itself for DNS and WINS and have a blank gateway. The external nic should point to the internal IP for DNS and have NetBIOS over TCP/IP disabled. If you are only using 1 nic, disable the other completely. Then the gateway should be pointing to the router IP.
