I've got a SBS2003r2 server working just fine.  When I run http://servername/connectcomputer  and click on "Connect to the network now" (it links to)http://servername/connectcomputer/precheck.htm
I get the following error message:

"The Small Business Server Networking Wizard was not installed. You may not be a member of the local Administrators security group on this computer or your Local Intranet security settings may be set to High. Click Connect to the network now to try again and click Yes when prompted. If the wizard fails to install, contact the person responsible for your network."
 
It also has this link below it:
"Connect to the network now"  (which links to:  http://servername/connectcomputer/start.htm)

Here is some more info:
1.  I've experienced this on 2 different computers, each with a fresh install of XP Pro (fully patched as well) and NO other programs installed.
2.  I can login to the server by \\servername  and see shared folders.
3.  I've insured that there is only one nic in the workstation(s)
4.  The server is doing DHCP duties and each workstation can connect to the Internet just fine.
5.  DNS on the workstations point to the SBS server

At this point I'm not sure if the problem is my initial config. of the workstation or on the server.

DHCP scope options are wrong, as the clients are pointing to the router for DNS and WINS while that should be pointing to the SBS.

I was wondering about that......I've looked at the DHCP scope but can't find the exact spot to change this.  Can you point me in the right direction?

003 (Router)                         --  value 192.168.1.1

006 (DNS Servers)                  --  value 192.168.1.21

015 (DNS Domain Names)        --  value [name].local

044 (WINS/NBNS Servers)       --  value 192.168.1.21

046 (WINS/NBT Node Type)    --  value 0x8 [H-node]

 

Should 003 be pointed to the server or to the router?

 

Under server options there are not any values.  Should there be?

When I first setup this server I had the router doing DHCP duties and then switched it to the SBS server.  Could that have something to do with it? Is there a way to uninstall/reinstall or to reset the DHCP server?

 

I will try setting up the ip info manually on the client and see if that at least resolves the problem.  If it does then I don't really need a solution.  This setup only has a handful of clients.  I can do static ip.

I've resolved the pointers for the DNS and WINS.  Only the IP was assigned by DHCP.  Everything else was set manually.  I've now setup everything to come from the server. 

 

Unfortunately though, I still can't use http://[servername]/connectcomputer.

Did you rerun CEICW? Do you have option 015 in the DHCP scope options? What exact error do you get with connectcomputer? Does the Companyweb work on the server itself? And what about the Backup and Monitoring page?

What 3rd party software is installed on the server? Have you downloaded and installed the SBS BPA tool yet? I didn't mean the event viewer when asking for the Backup and Monitoring page. Those are the pages you can find in Server Management.

I've finally gotten back to this issue:

 

I've sucessfully upgraded the server to r2.  I've run the SBS BPA tool and everything is good.

 

Here is a list of the 3rd party software running on the server:

 

1.  FileMaker Pro v9 server

2.  Backup Exec for Server v11d

3.  Power ISO v3.8 [unregistered] - poweriso.com

 

I am still not able to use connectcomputer.
