SBS 2003 Premium, ISA 2004 (all up to date service applied)
I have a very perculiar problem that I really dont understand, and I am hoping someone can give me an idea as to how to analyze the probelm.
I have a FQDN setup so that my external users can connect using https://fqdn/remote and use this to access OWA and "Client Computer Access" for when they want to do something more complex. I have a number of RWW users who can connect without any problem, and this is the odd bit I have 3 who have consistent problems.
The User can logon using the RWW interface and access their OWA interface without any problem, in fact no one has a problem with this. However if they try to connect to a workstation in the office through 'connect to my computer at work' they invariably fail.
Checking the Event log for all the users who fail to do this I see this message.
Event Type: Warning
Event Source: RemoteAccess
Event Category: None
Event ID: 20189
Date: 20/12/2007
Time: 21:45:14
User: N/A
Computer:
Description: The user \ connected from xx.xx.xxx.xxx but failed an authentication attempt due to the following reason: Authentication was not successful because an unknown user name or incorrect password was used.
I have questioned my users quite closely and the assure me that they are not mistyping their passwords etc...
I am stumped, if anyone has some bright ideas I would be glad to hear.
All my None-connecting remote users are using Windows XP/Pro & Windows XP/Home Laptops via ADSL to connect.
Just for the record my successful also run Windows XP/Pro, Vista Business, Vista Home Premium, and WIndows 2000.
Thanks
Paul
