EDIT - Double Post - Please DELETE!

Hi,

Why is it that when I VPN from a hotel to my SBS etc, when I open a share the addess needs to be \\IPADDRESS\Docs - should it not be \\SHARENAME\Docs if it was configured correctly?

Where have I gone wrong on the DNS settings?

Thanks
Jack

Hello Jack,

\\SHARENAME\Docs does not use DNS it uses Netbios name resolution. Try \\SERVERNAME.DOMAIN\Docs, that would be using DNS and if it works then it is more than likely an issue with your WINS setting to your VPN Clients.

Check the VPN connection to see if it is givng the WINS Server address which should be your SBS as well!
