Hi all

Please could you point me in the direction of some instructions on how to configure SBS Exchange 2003 please.  My MX records currently point to our Linux server and I want to be sure that our SBS Exchange server is properly configured before moveing the MX record over.  I have another domain to use (mycompany2.com) to be sure that it all works before swapping over our main domain (mycompany1.com).

I need help on knowing what my DNS shoudl look like and how to configure the SMTP and POP3 connectors.

Any help is appreciated.

R

Just run the CEIW and all will be well. If you put in the correct values you don't have anything to do anymore. Do not mess with DNS and/or SMTP unless you know what you are doing.

thanks for that. I've run the CEIW and the issue I have now is that Outlook/Outlook Express can't connect and retrieve email.
When I configure Outlook Express the only option I have is my email server is POP3. It then can't connect to the SBS Exchange server to retrieve/send email.

I've obviously missed something out somewhere.

Also, quick question. When looking at Knowledge Base articles relating to Outlook it always mentions using pop3@yourdomain.com and mail@yourdomain.com How would you recommend setting up DNS?

Cheers
Ryan

Hi Ryan

To fully take advantage of what Exchange has to offer, you'll need to use Outlook, and not Outlook Express.  This is not to say that OE cannot function, it can.

To use Outlook, you'll need to get it to connect to the Microsoft Exchange Server, put in the exchage server name, and the username, and you're done.

Hope this helps.

Hi Ryan,

Post the ipconfig/all from the server and one from a client. DNS should only point to the server IP on the servernics and the clients. In the tab forwarders of DNS server you put the ISP dns numbers.
