OK I have a server that the store.exe and an svchost.exe file are maxing the proc out. At first I thought it was the sasser worm cause the lsass.exe file was peaking as well. That has stoped and now it is just the store.exe and svchost.exe. I ran a virus scan to no avail with just recently updated definitions. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Shane

It appears to be hit or miss. I am getting Event ID 9074, 1030, 1058, and 9143. Everything seems to be working at the moment but it is still throwing errors. The proccessor usage has also dropped back down to normal.

I have some questions because what you see now is not good and can cause problems in the future?

  1. Is File and Printer sharing bound the Lan Nic? Both 9074 and 9143 are cause by this.
  2. The 1030 and 1058 could well be related to #1

Pardon my ignorance but I am not quite sure what you mean. If this is the case how do I fix it?

I have created a picture of the Local Area Network Properties. In the screenhot you can see that 'File and Printer Sharing' is checked. You should check this on the Network Adapter that is connected to your Lan.

I am having trouble connecting to the server at the moment so I am waiting for someone to reboot it but I believe that that check box is checked. I am assuming that we definately want it bound. Is it possible for it to become unbound from some error or another?

Thanks,
Shane

This is one the first things I check, if this is it then the solution is simple. If this checked then there is more to this problem and the first step is to check all DNS settings. The errors you see are most of the time cause by DNS related problems. If DNS does not function the way it should be on a SBS you will definitely see lots of errors.

Ok, I am at the server now. The Local card is checked. The Wide area card is not. I think this is how it is supposed to be. This is what I have done to the server recently. I installed a USB2.0 pci card. I also migrated User Shared Folders from C: to D:. I am not sure what would cause this out of hte blue but I greatly appreciate your help.

Thanks,
Shane

Questions...

  1. Can you post an IPconfig /all from the server?
  2. Did you change anything on SMB signing?
  3. Did you change policies?
  4. When did this start to occur?
  5. How did you move folders?

Ok, task manager is unable to show any running processes. The whole screen is just blank. I am also getting Warning Event 2012 which i believe is related. Should I revert everything I did recently and see if that helps?

Those error are not related to any service pack. He has a problem with DNS. See all the group policy related errors and that will/can also cause Exchange to choke if it cannot find the domain

I dont believe I changed anything on SMB signing. Im not even sure where I would go to do that.

I didnt change any policies.

It started this morning at 7am ish. I finished all of my work last night at 11:30pm.

I moved the folders using xCopy. I used the SBS2003 microsoft official document on moving data folders.
