I just finished the setup of SBS 2003 a clean install from SBS 2000.  I have everything setup and working even terminal services.  The only thing that is not working well is Outlook Web Access.  I have a dynamic ip address that we use to connect to the internet via a cable modem.  When I try to point the Default Web Site to the external IP address i get an error stating "Destination host unreachable", what am I doing wrong?  I have tried different port #s than 80 but it still doesnt work.  Any help would be appreciated.

What do you mean by 'When I try to point the Default Web Site to the external IP address'? You need to have a FQDN to get OWA working. Did you create a certificate when you ran the CEIW? Do you have a router in front of your SBS?

Regards.

In Internet Services Manager I right click on 'Default Web Site' and click properties.  When the box comes up it gives me a drop down box that has my public IP and my private ip, when i choose my public ip address the Default Web Site stops and i have to restart it, but when I click start i get the error 'The network location cannot be reached. For more information about network troubleshooting see windows help.'  I do not have a router in front of my SBS and I did create a security certificate.  On my old SBS2k system it work without a flaw even without a FQDN on my internal network.  Now in my SBS2k3 I created a FQDN for it.  Thanks

Hi Bryce

In IIS where it gives you the option of choosing your IP, you should select "(all unassigned)" unless you have a need to bind to one or the other.

If your public IP is showing in that list, do you have ISA installed on the same server, and if yes then you need to setup port forwarding rules to the SBS server IP Address.

I guess you look like this:     Internet --> SBS2003/ISA2000 --> Internal network.

So in default web site, you should be listening on either all unassigned, or the internal NIC.
then pointing the ISA server Publishing rules to the SBS IP.

I personally dont run ISA on SBS( have only had the need to buy ISA seperately at a couple of sites), so someone correct me if i am wrong.

Hi Bryce

Two things from original post. You say you have Terminal Serviices working. I presume this is on a Member server because this won't function correctly on your SBS Server.

If this is a Business you really nee to get a static IP either from the Cable Co or a DSL provider to make this work properly There are Dynamic DNS providers out there and dyndns.org is a good one but Static IP is the best way
