Hi all.
As I'm sure it is with everyone else, any help here will be profusely appreciated.
I am an IT professional of 15 years. However I've never had the opportunity to be a full blown systems administrator. That is, having control over all aspects of the network. I fell into such a position 5 months ago. I was brought on at a law firm to get their network straight. The had no structure. They got a new PC, put it on the desk, mapped a few drives manually, and that was pretty much it. E-mail has always been POP3, and they use offline files on every PC.
We have three locations. Each 40 miles away from each other. We have three different servers. One running Server 2K, and the other two running SBS2K3. The Exchange servers on two two SBS units are running. But they're only used for mail storage, contacts, and calendars.
I have multiple issues I wanted to discuss with you all, but I've run into an emergency snag that I need to bring up first.
Our e-mail is hosted through Network Solutions. Let's say our domain is "RL.COM". I have a server located in Greenbelt, it's called GB. The domain in Greenbelt is RL-GB.LOCAL. Whenever someone sends an e-mail to me - tech@rl.com, it bounces immediately and gives the NDR:
The e-mail account does not exist at the organization this message was sent to. Check the e-mail address, or contact the recipient directly to find out the correct address.
I cannot, for the life of me, solve this problem. I checked DNS. Hell, I even blew away DNS and recreated it.
Any help?
