Hi all
I have a long term very irritating problem that absolutely refuses to go away. I receive an error on my laptop and various other workstations which have been rebuilt recently and rejoined correctly to the domain. The laptop was also joined to the domain but was not originally part of it. They are joined correctly and connected to the excahnge server to receive SMTP email, however this rather irritating error of 0x8004011B keeps coming up every time I press the send and receive on the laptop and the rebuilt workstations although I can still send and receive mail. The other workstations are experiencing the same problem. I have looked at the event viewer on the server and it appears I also had erros of ID 9360, 9331, 9116, 9109 and 2266 keep coming from which I have looked at:
1. Tried to Download address book - no success
2. deleted all folders in C;\docs and settings\username\local settings\outlook - when I recreate a new profile the .oab files are not created.
3.Turned cached mode for exchange off and on - no result
4.Tried http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922255 - Error message when a user performs the Send/Receive operation in Outlook:"Unknown error 0x8004011B
5. Have Tried ESM - click Administrative Groups - click Folders - Right-click Public Folders click View System Folders - Click to expand the offline Address Book object--> Click Properties - click the Replication tab - verified that public folder store is entered in the Replicate content to public stores box. Also Clicked to expand o=org/cn=addrlists/cn=oabs/cn=Default Offline Address List. Right-click offline Address Book Version 2, and click Properties. Click the Replication tab and verify that a public folder store is entered in the Replicate content to these public stores box. All present and correct.
6. Been through http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555049
7. Been through - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922255
8. Created new Defaul OAL and Rebuilt OAB
9. Recreated Outlook profiles
10. Suspect Corrupted OAB - what is the best procedure for SBS 2003 and clients are windows Vista.
11 Added in a registry key to allow for a full OAB download next time - no joy
The client machines are giving me the error message in the Synch folders:
13:00 Microsoft Exchange offline address book
13:00 An error occurred while decompressing the Microsoft Exchange offline address book files.
13:00 0X8004011B
I have also looked at the OABInteg tool with the follwoing results:
(Please bear in mind that about 6 months ago I activated the Attachment blocking ion Trend MIcro CSM which effectively blocks incoming message attachments and replaces them with :
A_POLICY_VIOLATED_FILE_WAS_DETECTED_AND_REMOVED.TXT
When I ran the OABInteg on c:\oabinteg.exe /s:SrvName /t:storealtest /v:2 /l and this did find the information store:
When I ran c:\oabinteg.exe /s:SrvName /t:oabfldcheck /v:2 /l
This threw up some real anomalies as follows:
Message Class Normal found:3
Message class differential found:0
Message class unknown found:0
Message Attachments found:231 (looks like these messages where the trend ones abiove).
Messages found but unable to read the properties:0
System Folders Found:4
Highest Sequence Number Found:2
Lowest Sequence NUmber Found:1
Biggest Attament Found:230 bytes
Smallest Attachment Found: 230 bytes
Biggest Message Found:18159 bytes
smallest message found:17469
Has anybody else come up against this before - it is obvious that the client machine are just not downloading the OAB or any .oab files from the server and this may have in part something to do with the trend micro but it looks like this is not the only reason.
Regards
Dan
