If you receive all mail then there is nothing to worry about. I see those errors also and most of the time they mean that the POP server cannot be reached. The only one I would worry about is the 1023.

well i really like to gt a clean table from this server - or atleast understand what the problem is. i read somewhere that it might be due to a DNS timeout - whatever that is - and could be solved by adding the mail server in the hosts file, which i did, but nothing changed.

i have a nother server that is collecting mails from the same pop3 server (danaweb), it never show any problems downloading the mails.

Well, that other server uses probably another POP server to collect mail from. You may want to see eventid.net for an explanation of those errors.

Hello

I have  half a dozend SBS arround and this problem occured on the newest one only ....

I foumd a quite "unusual" source of this problem. At first I set up POP3 logging to max (POP3 Manager -> Errorhandling -> Protokolllevel).

- 1st interesting Message is 1011 -> Download Manager will get Messages from up to 8 Mailboxes.
- in detailed protokoll connect to the 1st four boxes is fine, after this no more connect.
- asked my provider, and yes, there is a limit of 4 connects per IP at the same time set on the pop-server.

There is no way to set this limit down for SBS POP3 connector. Via Registry there is a configurable Parameter HKLM/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/SmallBusinessServer/Network/POP3 Connector DWORD DownloadThreads set to 0x00000001.

Searching the WEB and after this crosschecking with other Servers this does mean one thread per CPU Core ! So my newest server with dual quadcore will respawn 8 threads at minimum (setting DownloadThreads on this machine to 0x2 will do 16!).

No solution for now (may be removing one CPU  ...

Hello

To check if this problem is related to provider pop server connection restriction boot the system with one cpu only. To do this add the option /numproc=1 to boot.ini.
